Job Description

Background

Conceived in August of 2020 and launched one month later, Pathways by Grenadian STEAM is a long-form, audio-visual podcast which began as a creative outlet through which to encourage students across the state of Grenada to seek out and pursue careers in non-traditional fields.

In each episode, our host chats with a different West Indian guest who is pursuing such a career in one of the STEAM fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture or Math. The conversations delve into various aspects of the guest’s career path, starting with their experiences as a young student, to the influences and choices that led them to their current career, then takes a peek into their hopes and plans for the future. The underlying theme across the conversations thus far has been that the STEAM fields, though seemingly technically-focused and distinct, often have broad overlaps, and it is at these intersections that creativity flourishes.

After 3 seasons of audio-only episodes being published across all major and minor podcast platforms, the team decided to move into the realm of video, releasing a full season hosted on both YouTube and Spotify video, in addition to the standard audio versions while also releasing short-form content to the social media crowd. This move brought with it a new, younger audience and increased publicity for Grenadian STEAM. As of May 2023, Pathways by Grenadian STEAM has been incorporated as a stand-alone sole-proprietorship and seeks to continue thriving as a business venture in collaboration with other local and regional companies in the space.

Each season of Pathways thus far has featured 10, 1-hour long (on average) episodes with new releases every other Wednesday while the season is running. Conversations are recorded remotely with files provided for editing. Past episodes can be found at the links below:

Intentions / Requirements

After an extended hiatus in 2023, Pathways is ready to return for its 5th season in 2024. In keeping with the unofficial theme of Grenada’s 50th Jubilee year, we are looking to go “Up From Here” with the podcast. That means improved content and production quality, increased social engagement and increasing support and interaction with the business community from what has been previously achieved.

Pathways by Grenadian STEAM is seeking to contract an editing/production team to complete this new season. Interested parties may apply as multi-talented individuals (who can ideate, record where needed and fully edit both audio and video for a 10-episode season) or as a company or joint venture, made up of multiple people/organisations who will focus on different aspects of the process.

The successful candidate(s) will have:
● Significant experience with long-form video editing
● Significant experience with interview-style audio editing
● An eye and ear for detail
● Creative flair
● The ability to work and make creative decisions independently
● A genuine interest in youth development and empowerment
● Proficiency in and access to podcast editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Audacity, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Audition and/or Descript
● Knowledge and understanding of social media content formats

The production team will NOT be required to do any on-site filming for this season.
Selected candidate(s) will be hired on a contractual basis for one season of the show, with the option to renew for future episodes/seasons.
