Job Description

The Meal & Safeguarding Officer will manage MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning) programming in Caritas Grenada, designing and implementing projects’ MEAL to advance Caritas Grenada’s work. MEAL-related management skills and knowledge will ensure that CG delivers high-quality programming and continuously works towards improving the impact of its programming.  As Safeguarding Officer, he/she will coordinate, support and advise on the development and implementation of Caritas Grenada’s Safeguarding policy and practices and with a commitment to Caritas principles and values as well as an understanding of the role of the Catholic Church in emergency and development activities.

Caritas Grenada is the Roman Catholic Church’s relief, development and social service organisation working for the poor and marginalized. Caritas Grenada works without regard to creed, race, gender or ethnicity.

This position is based on Grenada Mainland with frequent travel to field locations in Carriacou and Petite Martinique for on-site visits.

Minimum Requirements:

  • University Degree. 
  • Minimum of three years of work experience in development, social, and/or emergency programs
  • Desired experience in community mobilization, organization and mediation among local actors
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated capacities to establish and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with government officials, local organizations, communities and other stakeholders
  • Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to work diligently and independently 
  • Ability to work under pressure with short deadlines.
  • Positive and constructive attitude and be flexible to shifts in project priorities and tasks. 
  • Maturity, diplomacy, tact and discretion, with strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in tense situations
  • Tact and professionalism in handling confidential information
  • Must submit a Police Record and Self-Declaration Form, and sign Caritas Grenada’s Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct before taking up post.
