The Junior Research Officer will contribute to research projects that connect academic inquiry with community engagement, digital content, and public programming. Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct research independently and collaboratively, using qualitative, quantitative, archival, oral history, ethnographic, and field-based methods.
• Prepare draft research outputs, including reports, interpretive essays, content for exhibitions, and digital media.
• Assist the Senior Research Officer and curatorial staff in developing grant proposals and supporting documentation.
• Support community engagement initiatives and contribute research insights to exhibitions, education, and outreach programs.
• Participate in data collection, analysis, and evaluation of exhibitions and programs.
• Collaborate effectively with academics, community historians, cultural practitioners, and heritage stakeholders.
• Contribute to institutional reports, presentations, and publications under supervision.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in (or equivalent professional experience) in Museology, History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Heritage Studies, Cultural Studies, Sociology or a related discipline.
• Some research experience (academic, field, archival, or community-based) is desirable.
• Ability to work independently, manage tasks, and meet deadlines while also functioning effectively in a team environment.
• Strong analytical, writing, and interpretive communication skills.
• Knowledge of Caribbean heritage and museum practices is desirable.
• Ability to adapt research findings for multiple formats: exhibitions, reports, digital media, and educational outputs.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse communities and colleagues.
• Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is desirable for local fieldwork.

Qualifications & Experience:
• Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Museology, History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Heritage Studies, Cultural Studies, Sociology or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in conducting archival, field, oral history, and community-based research.
• Strong analytical, writing, and interpretive communication skills.
• Knowledge of Caribbean history, cultural heritage, and inclusive/decolonial research methodologies.
• Ability to adapt academic findings for multiple formats, including exhibitions, publications, digital media, and educational outputs.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to work with diverse communities and stakeholders.
• Experience in preparing successful grant applications is highly desirable.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for local fieldwork.
