Job Description

Spice Island Beach Resort is an AAA Five Diamond / Six Star Diamond rated luxury property, situated on stunning Grand Anse Beach. Owned by a Grenadian family, our award-winning 64-suite Green Globe certified resort is celebrated for delivering memorable hospitality experiences to discerning guests in an upscale and relaxed ambience.  

An opportunity exists for an experienced Engineering & Facilities Manager with excellent people and project management skills to lead the upkeep and maintenance of facilities, equipment and complex MEP and HVAC systems to ensure guests and employees experience the highest standards for comfort and safety. This job is ideal for professionals who are systems thinkers with a preventative mindset, commercial awareness and leadership credibility.

Key responsibilities:

  • Facilities and Maintenance Management: Oversee the upkeep and maintenance of all resort facilities and landscaping, ensuring optimal functionality and aesthetics. Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance programme for peak performance of all systems.
  • Engineering Oversight: Manage and maintain advanced HVAC, MEP, telecommunications and other technical systems, ensuring efficient operations and compliance with industry standards. Provide technical expertise and support for the Maintenance team and other departments.
  • Construction Project Management: Plan and manage construction and renovation projects, ensuring timely and within-budget completion. Coordinate with architects, contractors and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes and meet energy efficiency.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all maintenance and engineering activities comply with safety regulations and standards, prioritising the well-being of guests and employees. Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Leadership, Training and Mentorship: Develop a high-performing team, using innovative hands-on leadership, training and coaching techniques. Foster a positive and inclusive working environment which encourages high employee engagement.
  • Sustainability and Technology: Contribute to the development of long-term sustainability initiatives, including Green Globe practices and certification. Stay current with emerging technologies and identify opportunities to enhance departmental efficiency and operations.

What we seek:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ similar management experience, preferably in the hospitality industry, managing a workforce of at least 30 employees.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ specialised experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, as well as planning and managing construction projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil) or Facilities Management and certificate in project management.
  • Experience with budgeting processes and negotiating contracts.
  • Excellent diagnostic, critical thinking and planning skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in team building and mentorship.
  • Strong knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), Google apps and related software.
